Entry-Level Systems Administrator — Remote
This is a great opportunity for an enthusiastic, recent graduate to gain experience in Systems Administration in support of real-world infrastructure and advanced Artificial Intelligence-based Web applications. We are a very small team, so depending on your background, you may have the opportunity to contribute to various aspects of IT operations, from manual and automated system configuration to DevOps, Cybersecurity, and production server support.
What you'll do
- Support administration and maintenance of external customer systems and internal infrastructure. For example, you may:
- Develop Ansible and other scripts to automate deployment and maintenance tasks
- Set up accounts or groups needed to support external user applications
- Install webservers or other software to support internal systems and external client deployments
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues with customer passwords or remote connectivity
- Perform ongoing system monitoring and backup capabilities
- Configure, maintain, and monitor virtual machines (VMs). For example, you may:
- Perform and track regular system updates
- Conduct ongoing system monitoring and generate periodic system reports
- Run and track security compliance scans and remediate issues
- Monitor system backups, system usage, and resource availability
- You may also work with the team to expand corporate IT policies and procedures, and generally improve our Cybersecurity posture

What you'll need
In general, you should:
- Want to participate in all aspects of IT operations from server maintenance to system monitoring and production system support
- Have a desire to learn new skills and tools as IT operations and Cybersecurity continue to evolve
- Be interested in Cybersecurity, and automation of IT operations
Specific qualifications desired:
- Solid knowledge of Linux, common Linux tools, and shell scripting – RedHat preferred
- Exposure to Ansible, configuration automation, and DevOps tools and concepts is desired
- Experience with, or interest in, configuration and administration of databases and Web applications
- Exposure to and strong interest in Cybersecurity considerations from a Systems Administration perspective
- Basic understanding of networking concepts and firewalls
- BS in Computer Science, or a related field; or at least 4 years of relevant experience
- An ability to occasionally work non-standard hours, e.g. early morning, evening, or weekend, to support maintenance activities
